Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PC Game REVIEW | Call of duty: Modern warfare 2 THE first-person shooter (FPS), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2), sold a stunning 4.7 million copies on its first day in the United Kingdom and United States, earning US$310 million ($435 million). Here's why. Even if you're a newbie, you will be up to speed with MW2 in no time once you start the single-player campaign. After a short and sweet training mission, you will be thrust immediately into the bitterness of modern warfare. The campaign will take you from Afghan deserts to Kazakhstan snows, from the slums of Rio de Janeiro to the streets of Washington. You play different characters in each mission, riding Humvees to snowmobiles. Controls are simple, fast and intuitive. The environments in each setting are authentically created, and the characters well modelled and textured. The smoke, the dirt, and even the blood that splatters on the screen when you are hit look and feel real. The top-notch sound effects accentuate the FPS experience - comrades shout, bullets whizz by, grenades explode. Each mission is bloody, intense and chaotic, like what real-life warfare would be. It's a shame that the story feels somewhat convoluted and disjointed. You can hone your skills to prepare for the cut-throat multiplayer realm with the Special Ops mode. Here, you can play solo or with a friend in split-screen mode or remotely online. The variety of missions in Special Ops will put you in good stead when you tackle the multiplayer world. The multiplayer levels look as good as the single-player missions, with minimal lag on the servers. The action is much more fast-paced than the campaign missions. Don't fret if you think you are not good enough. The multiplayer mode has plenty of perks to reward the good and help the weak. For example, a continuous kill streak of a certain number will give you access to rewards like air strikes. If you die a few times continuously, you will be granted more health upon respawning. Also, you might gain access to the weapons of a higher-ranked opponent who killed you, allowing you a chance to exact revenge. These perks help strike a balance and provide a better multiplayer experience compared to other FPS games. Trevor Tan VERDICT Superb graphics, excellent sound effects, scintillating gameplay, balanced multiplayer mode. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 truly rocks. Game is rated "Suitable for 16 and above". http://www.todayonline.com/Tech/Gaming/EDC100101-0000031/So-real-you-can-almo...
